Belfast has been hosting the World Irish Dancing Championships 2004 and the local papers have been full of pictures of the dancers. I was quite shocked by the wigs that the dancers wear. They are truly hideous, though apparently are great timesavers as they cut out the need to spend hours in curlers. Oh how fashions change! The local dancers from the glens had their picture in the Ballymena Papers and they didn’t have the hideous wigs and their dresses were less fancy.
