Pixies
It is hot here. I am melting away.
Yesterday we went to Dublin to see the Pixies. It was great. The first two concerts I went to see, in my youth, were the Pixies. So, it was good to see them now, when I am more concert knowledgeable. And, with a good many years since last seeing them. And, knowing lots of the lyrics off-by-heart. I yelled myself nearly hoarse and marvelled at how Kim Deal manages to smoke and play bass at the same time. She always seemed so cool to me. My favourite song was Gigantic. It’s always been my favourite Pixies song.
Sadly, I didn’t get the t-shirt I wanted as, by the time I sorted out my dosh, they’d sold out. I will be in contact with relations going to see the Pixies later this summer about the possibility of getting me a t-shirt!
Check out Gouge Away for a Pixies spoof – it can be accessed via the ‘music’ link.
The concert itself was apparently the largest concert ever held in Ireland, with over 100,000 people expected. I didn’t bother counting everybody so I can’t confirm the numbers. All I know is that there were a heck of a lot of people there. I could comment on the other bands that played but I can’t be arsed.
Today was sweltering hot and I decided to drive to Junction One and cook chili. Junction One is a collection of outlet stores on the outskirts of Antrim and it was a bad idea to visit today as there were huge queues to get into the car park and I was thoroughly demented and soaked with sweat by the time I found a parking space and emerged from the car. I find it funny that the very first Starbucks in Ireland should be in Antrim! Who woulda thought it? Belfast was an obvious first choice! I decided to have an iced latte with hazelnut syrup, but it didn’t taste as good as the freebies that Miss E gave me in Vancouver. Probably because they forgot to put the syrup in it!
