This is the cake I’ve made for D’s birthday. It is Chocolate Guinness Cake from Nigella Lawson’s new book Feast. It doesn’t look much like it does in the book - mainly due to mine having a very flat ‘head’ because the cream cheese icing was very lickable. I have licked clean all of the utensils I used.

D should be having a very pleasant day. He has rugby to watch, cake to eat, presents to play with, curry to eat, Guinness to drink, live music to be watched and a night to be spent in a Portstewart B&B (and then awakening to a cooked breakfast). Only thing missing is going for a dive.
