Nurse Zoe

I am an absolutely awful nurse to a sick person. I have very little patience for ill people and wonder why they are so bloody lazy that they can’t get up off their lazy arses and do something productive. And stop whinging about being ‘in pain’.

My Beloved has a sprained ankle and I am trying my very best to look after him, as I know he would do, and has done, the same for me. So far this involves feeding him painkillers, driving him places (because it is good for sick people to get out and about to keep them from going crazy – he tells me), making him food, wrapping him in bandages and supplying him with ice for his ankle.

I have no patience for patients.

So, how did my beloved injure his ankle? Well, we went on a walk yesterday, to the top of Trostan (the highest of the Antrim hills). It was a really nice journey, through forest, past waterfalls, over streams and finally over the bog. D was losing his footing quite a bit and kept winding up knee deep in bog water. So, it should have come as no surprise, as we were returning through Essathohan Glen, that he should slip and sprain his ankle. We had been running when he tumbled.

I was quite worried that he may have broken a bone, as he had yelled very loudly, but fortunately, he could walk and we were very near a road. I left him at the road and walked back to the car by myself, hoping and praying that there were no bears in the woods that would jump out and eat me.

After rescuing my man, I drove all the way home, did everything for him and then collapsed asleep at 10.20pm – I was exhausted.

The poor fellow wasn’t able to go diving today! I do hope he mends and can go diving and walking again soon.

I have added a link on the right, to Katkins’ Flickr - for ease of finding!
