Blood
I am a little tired from my activities this week. It all started last weekend with the boat trip to Rathlin Island. Then I had a trip to Belfast, a birthday, and I gave blood for the first time.
I followed this with a night making food from a new recipe book (a birthday gift) and attempting to slice the end off my finger with my new sharp cook’s knife (another birthday gift).
I guess that I see it as good luck to draw blood with a new knife.
My mother, when shown the new knife, said, ‘Oh, is that for you to kill D with?’ She said something similar when I purchased a small pink penknife at the market a while ago. The stallholder commented on the knife being a ladies penknife and Momma said, ‘Yes, for slitting men’s throats’. I was sold the penknife providing that I didn’t let my mother anywhere near it.
Question is – should I worry about this?
