Starved

I was up at the crack of dawn this morning to let Gracie out to the toilet, but I still managed to be late picking my mum up for a walk as I had forgotten about the clocks going forward.

We went to White Park Bay and Gracie squeaked with excitement for most of our walk. The excitement was really to do with with Bonnie the German Shepherd being there.

Now I am weary and hungry. I have made a chocolate chestnut cake from How to be a Domestic Goddess, Nigella Lawson, and could not wait to try it. The morsel that I picked off to taste kind of grew into a small slice. My cake is small as I halved the suggested quantities and it is slightly cinnamony as I used Mexican chocolate. It reminded me of a recipe by Delia Smith that gave an option to use chestnut puree - Squidgy Chocolate Log. I remember my auntie D making this when I was in London and it was delicious. So good I had to make it myself.

  • I saw this recipe quite recently and blurted out “I want to make a squidgy Chocolate log!” then I laughed and laughed…..good times.

  • Is that the desire to make a truly delicious chocolate cake, or is it something else? Something to do with toilets?

    Janny.

  • To make delicious cake of course. It just didn’t sound that way when I said it or rather, shouted it excitedly.
