Spitting – disgusting. I hardly ever spit and when I do, I do it somewhere discreet and only because I really, really have to. Fortunately, now I am older, I find that boys do not spit so often when passing me in the street.

I dislike having to look at huge gobs of saliva on the streets. It makes me feel queasy.

Unfortunately, Gracie seems to think that spit is quite tasty! Most of the time I manage to drag her past it but today she managed to lick up a big green glob of gob. I heaved several times.

So, spitting should be banned on all occasions unless it is absolutely necessary. Like if you didn’t spit that you would choke and die, or your leg would fall off, or something like that.

This is just a temporary look as the most important thing was to get it up and running so that I could have a comment-filled, but a spam-free blogging experience. My custom built for me blog could not deal with the daily onslaught of spam comments.

I was reluctant to write anything, for a while, as I knew a change was afoot. So, here we are and I will try to do much better in 2007!

Christmas! Who can really be bothered? New Year? What’s the fuss about?

The season is nearing its end and I couldn’t be happier.

Of course I had a grand time and was given some lovely gifts, especially the charity gifts. Christmas Day Dinner was had at D’s parents and was very tasty. We went home in the evening to sit and slowly digest and sit in front of the telly like big lumps.

On Boxing Day we had to venture to Junction One for a replacement coffee pot as mine had leapt at D and hit him on Christmas Eve, smashing to smithereens as it fell to the floor. Then we went to Mum’s for another huge feed of turkey with all the trimmings. Which was yum. I brought part of a ham I had made and and half a chocolate guinness cake (D had confiscated the other half!) Gracie had great fun playing with Bonnie the Alsatian and trying to catch the kitten. Reports are that she was as nice as pie to the kitten when anyone was looking, but when our backs were turned she couldn’t be trusted. Much wine was consumed and I didn’t feel too great the day after!

Wednesday – spent the day feeling a bit crap, so had a snooze before heading off to the blogmeet in Cushendall with Mum, Hannah and Bert. Spent most of the evening chatting to these peple, who don’t even have a blog!

Thursday, Friday and Saturday have become a bit of a blur. Gracie got out on a few good walks – yesterday being the best as she was out with Bonnie the Alsatian, who is probably one of the few dogs that can match Gracie for energy. They spent the first half of the Ecos walk running around in circles chasing each other. Gracie had to take a few dips to help her cool down she was running so much. Her first was in a sheugh and her second was in a small stream, where she swam a few strokes.

Today the Rain God has been busy. I will spend my time sorting photographs into neat boxes, maybe the dog will get out for a walk, maybe we will cook something tasty for dinner (though I am sick of food), maybe I will have a bath, maybe I will have a drink later, maybe I will manage to stay awake for the New Year, maybe I won’t.

New Year? I aim to start as I mean to continue, with a long walk.

Happy New Year

No time to write these days what with the rush to get all my Christmas presents completed and finish watching my Buffy the Vampire Slayer box set (one year after I received it).

Gracie has been with us for nearly a year now and I wouldn’t be without her, even though she is spoilt rotten. I remember that this time last year I was over excited at the prospect of getting her.

We left her with her Aunt Hannah and Uncle Jamie for the night last Thursday. Apparently, she whined most of the night. She will have to have a few more practice nights away from home before we head away for our holidays in the new year. While Miss-Tiss whined all night, I pined for her.

Dave tries to do something every day to reduce his carbon footprint, so, on Thursday he turned the thermostat on the boiler down a degree and on Friday he turned it down again. On Saturday he crashed our car. Though, to be honest, he didn’t try to crash it, rather he was hit by another car which had lost control on a slushy road. Our car is wrecked, but Dave is okay. He has a few bruises and a sore neck and knee. We spent a few days car-less then got a hire car at the expense of the crasher’s insurance.

The worst thing for Dave was that he was on his way to Ballycastle for what would have been his last dive of the season. He didn’t get to dive, but that’s okay ’cause he’ll get a dive or two in Mexico in February.

I would dearly love an alpaca of my very own (I am jealous that D has one, a birthday gift), or even some lovely alpaca yarn would be nice (Artesano Alpaca sell ethically traded yarn).

Seems that my evening meal did not agree with me and it will be a while before I will be able to eat takeaway again!

Ooooer.

It was all a somewhat disappointing end to what had been a very pleasant day. Wee sister Hannah and I went up to Belfast for the day. Then when I returned D and I went to his parents for a takeaway meal, as D’s aunt and uncle were visiting from Cork.

Today I really should be doing some housework, but I feel tired and sick. This means I will have little interest in the Mexican banquet I had planned for tonight; chicken mole with white rice and black beans, followed by apple crumble.

Today I woke up not sure what to do with myself. Should I go with D to where he is leaving to dive, then take Gracie on a lovely beach walk, or should I stay at home, finish f**king French Knotting my cardigan, make wonderful things with pumpkin (pumpkin ravioli) and cook a chicken with a few of the usual trimmings?

The weather has made my decision for me, for when I got out of bed I realised that it was pissing rain outside. Gracie will have to do without a wonderful walk and make-do with a just okay walk by the river. Maybe in between the heavy showers we shall see some sunshine.

I shall keep you posted as to how the French Knotting and pumpkin cooking go.
